SNAGS 2018 - All over for another year

Updated: Apr 4, 2018

As the excitement of SNAGs 2018 subsides and the kit is drying out, it's a good time to reflect on another great run for Midlothian at the 2018 Scottish National Age Group Championships in Tollcross, Glasgow.

Our team of 10 (not 11 - more on that in a minute) took part in 43 events over the five days of racing. They achieved a total of 26 PBs and 27 Finals swims. Eilidh Redpath fought hard in a tight finish in the last event of the meet, taking the silver medal in the Women's 50m Fly (16yrs). And Fraser Wilson swam to victory, not once but twice, to be crowned National Age Group Champion in the Men's 100m & 200m Fly (16yrs).

Huge congratulations to them and to all our SNAGs 2018 swimmers. They were a credit to themselves and to the Club.

Lastly, a word about the 11th member of the team. Despite qualifying to swim in 5 events, Chloe Barron had to pull out of her first ever SNAGs due to a shoulder injury. We know how disappointed she'll be to miss out after all her hard work this year, but we also know she'll be back stronger than ever next year and wish her well for a speedy recovery.

So that's it for SNAGs 2018. It only remains to thank Colin for all his hours poolside over the five days of racing, the parents and supporters who came along to cheer our swimmers on and our whole coaching team for preparing the swimmers so well.

Individual results can be viewed here and Club members can view the SNAGS 2018 photo album in the Members' area.

See you next year!
