What a night it was for all of us at Midlothian Swimming Club. We are incredibly humbled to be have been recognised as Scottish Swimmign Club of the Year 2024.
It was night of celebrating all thing aquatics in Scotland last night, as Scottish Swimming hosted their annual awards evening, which took place at TECA in Aberdeen.
Hosted by radio and television presenter, Arlene Stuart, over 310 guests celebrated the fantastic achievements of our athletes and coaches, as well as the invaluable contributions made by our volunteers, clubs and partners over the course of the last year.
Club of the Year was a much-anticipated award, with Aberdeen Diving, Dunfermline ASC and Midlothian Swimming Club being worthy finalists. With the award panel citing their unwavering commitment to all athletes, not only creating opportunities at all levels, but also building a supportive club family with a passion and drive to succeed at all levels, it was Midlothian Swimming Club who won the accolade.
Colin Barton, Lead Coach of Midlothian, spoke on behalf of the Club and said,
“This award means recognition for all the hard work the Club does, not just from the group here tonight, but for everyone involved. And the hard work will continue. We are actually heading back down the road this evening in order that we don’t miss a training session tomorrow morning.”
Talking about what makes the Club stand out, Lesley Burrell, Chair of Midlothian added,
“I think one of our main drivers at Midlothian is that it’s not just about the high achievers, it’s about everybody, celebrating all our young people and encouraging them to be the best that they can be, and we are so proud of each and everyone of them and all the hard work they put in week after week.”
