2008 Club BBQ - following the success of last year's event, our 2008 BBQ has been booked for the afternoon of 7 September. Once again it will take place at Yellowcraigs but this year, in recognition of sterling fundraising activities, the event will be free. A note has been issued and it is vital we have an ideal of numbers so please return your slip.

Welcome to the website of Midlothian Swimming Club. Founded over 20 years ago we have approximately 90 swimmers aged between 7-21 years old. We have 4 competitive squads split dependent upon age and ability. We also have 2 non-competitive squads for swimmers aged 11 onwards, interested in keeping fit (or cross-training with other sports such as athletics) and having the fun of a club social life but not interested in competing.

The competitive squads enter a number of competitions throughout the year, we hold our AGM and Annual Presentation Dance in January, and we have a number of other social events throughout the year. In addition, we have had an annual exchange with a German Swimming club for 23 years.

If you're interested in any aspect of the club please contact our phone message service or e-mail address. We'll get back to you ASAP. Although our usual intake for competive squads is between the ages of 7-11 we'd love to hear from anyone with an interest and we can discuss the squad options! And don't forget we have non competitive options too.

Phone 0131 208 3450 and leave a message, or e-mail info@midlothianswimmingclub.co.uk.

June

Colin's latest report covering the East District Open is now available on the Squad News page.

And congratulations to Chris Kerr who has attained a qualifying time for the ASA British Age Group Championships and will travel to Sheffield at the end of July to compete in the 100m breaststroke.

And yet more congratulations to recently departed club swimmer Sean Fraser who has been named as part of the GB Paralympic Squad for Beijing, a huge achievement...good luck Sean!

Midlothian Swimmers compete in Peebles Triathlon

On the 8th June, 14 swimmers (from 3 squads) took part in the Peebles Triathlon. It was a new experience for everyone and not only did all14 complete the event, but everyone managed excellent times.

Many of the swimmers put in extra training for the event through land training on a Thursday & thanks to the staff at the Penicuik Centre, we also made good use of the bikes in the gym on a Monday evening.

There were quite a few nerves before the event but thankfully they soon disappeared as the swim was underway.

Thankfully the sun was out & all the parents who were there to cheer the kids on could relax in the warm weather....see Squad News for the rest of the report from Donald McFarlane.

Apologies.... whilst the new website is under construction things may not be hanging together quite as they should!
